1980, Zanzibar
We started flying in 1978 with a second-hand balloon and shortly after we decided to build a much larger one for an expedition to Africa. This trip was made in 1980, lasted eleven months and involved 40 flights from Zanzibar (Tanzania) to Kisiangani (Zaire).
After that we started designing an ultralight and created Ultramagic SA. At that time the news about the construction of the Globe for the adventure in Africa spread and other people became interested in building another balloon for them. We had the experience, we kept the sewing machines and we had the aeronautical organization. So for strategic reasons Ultralights Ultramagic became Globus Ultramagic. This was the beginning of a long history that has led us to have built thousands of balloons, including many special shapes.
Annual production has been between 80 and 100 balloons, with around 80% being exported. Distributing all over the world including Japan, North America, South America, Europe and of course the place where it all began, Africa. Globus Ultramagic has firmly established itself as one of the largest and most important balloon construction companies in the world. In 1993 we inaugurated a Cold Air Inflatables division with proven success in the approximately 4000 shapes built to date. Annual production of Cold Air Inflatables is around 250 units.
The company has grown steadily to have a workforce of more than 50 qualified and fully dedicated people, as well as a network of distributors around the world that offers direct attention to the consumer.
