The Racer
The balloon of champions
In 1996 Ultramagic took a giant step forward in the world of competition. The Racer was born. It was the first time a balloon had been designed, developed and produced especially for the demanding requirements of competitions. It was created in collaboration with Uwe Schneider, who is part of the elite of world competition flying.
In recent years we have been working on a second generation of the Ultramagic Racer, focusing on meeting the current needs of competition pilots. Pilots require a balloon that can sustain faster climb and descent rates without compromising safety, which has always been one of our priorities. In addition, competition tasks increasingly demand that pilots keep their attention on the flight instruments.
With this in mind, in 2023 we launched the Racer MZ, a new and improved design developed together with Stefan Zeberli, who won the last World Championship flying the first prototype.
The main characteristics highlighted by pilots:
– A good combination of functionality, stability and predictability – Consistency in climbs and descents
– Very safe and stable at high vertical speeds
Where the Racer MZ differs from a Formula 1 car is that it can be enjoyed by professional competition pilots as well as by those who wish to learn to compete or simply fly for fun.
